The Whitehall Norse will head out on the road to take on the Alma Center Lincoln Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
On Thursday, Whitehall didn't have quite enough to beat Melrose-Mindoro and fell 3-2.
Whitehall started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 14-25, 25-17, 25-13, 15-9.
Whitehall's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Avvia Herman, who had 14 digs, and Kyla Lambeck, who had four digs and two aces.
Meanwhile, Alma Center Lincoln came up short against Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
While Alma Center Lincoln was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-23, 25-13.
Alma Center Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Whitehall, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Whitehall was able to grind out a solid win over Alma Center Lincoln when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Norse since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
