Recap: Meade Mustangs vs. Northeast Eagles
It was a good run, but the Meade Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to Northeast. Meade was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northeast apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Meade's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Holmes, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Holmes has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lucaya Baldridge, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Meade's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5. As for Northeast, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5.
Meade will head out on the road to challenge Southern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meade is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.9 points per game this season. As for Northeast, they will head out on the road to square off against North County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
