Softball Recap: Templeton Beats Atascadero for Their Tenth Straight Victory

Templeton had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They blew past the Atascadero Greyhounds 16-1. Considering the Eagles have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bailey Fiorenza was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Tegan Jay looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Templeton got a massive performance out of Aislyn Vogt, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Vogt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Marquart, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Templeton pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Atascadero, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.

Templeton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Orcutt Academy on the 8th. As for Atascadero, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-2 loss against San Luis Obispo on the 9th.
