Basketball Recap: Academy of the New Church Takes a Loss

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Thursday. Academy of the New Church took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Phelps. Academy of the New Church has struggled against Phelps recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Academy of the New Church lost, don't look at Dior Carter. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Carter posted four steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Cameron Smith was another key player, going 7-for-15 on his way to 14 points and six boards.

Academy of the New Church's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Phelps, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-22.

Academy of the New Church does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Phelps, they will take on Cristo Rey Philadelphia at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
