Baseball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Killingly's Winning Streak

Killingly dropped their record down to 11-4 on Saturday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Woodstock Academy Centaurs by a score of 2-1. The Redmen were not able to make up for their defeat to the Centaurs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Woodstock Academy, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Woodstock Academy's part, Brady Ericson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Ericson has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).

Ericson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Camden Nason was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Coming up, Killingly will challenge Fitch at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Woodstock Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
