Basketball Recap: Whitefish Township Falls to Mackinac Island in First Game of Season

Whitefish Township unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 57-11 defeat at the hands of the Mackinac Island Lakers on Friday. The Rockets have struggled against the Lakers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Madison Gamble was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 16 boards for Mackinac Island. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Gamble has scored at least a third of Mackinac Island's points. Jadyn Rickley was another key player, putting up eight points along with five rebounds and five steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Mackinac Island and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mackinac Island beat Whitefish Township by a score of 59-16 on Saturday.
