Baseball Recap: Grand Junction Central Comes Up Short

Grand Junction Central had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-12 to make it ten. They lost 11-1 to the Palisade Bulldogs. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Grand Junction Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Gundt, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Palisade, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Palisade's side, Garrett Draper looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Draper also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Bulldogs are 6-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Kian Kinslow was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Caleb Blanck was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Coming up, Grand Junction Central will take on Grand Junction at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palisade, they will square off against Montrose at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.13 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
