Volleyball Recap: Lamar Thunder vs. Sterling Tigers
Lamar and Sterling squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Lamar had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Thunder were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in October of 2023.
The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 19-25, 25-16, 25-16.
Mireya Gomez paced Lamar's offense, picking up nine kills. Gomez got some help from Abygail Gonzales and her 20 assists. Keiton Chavira and Alyssa Postma kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.
Lamar's defeat ended an eight-match streak of away wins and brought them to 16-9. As for Sterling, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6.
Lamar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sterling, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Gunnison on the 13th.
