Soccer Game Preview: New Smyrna Beach vs. DeLand

The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas will head out to square off against the DeLand Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

New Smyrna Beach is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Spruce Creek just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. Neither they nor the Hawks could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Barracudas' first draw of the season.

Their goal came courtesy of Celeste Coney, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, DeLand's game on Thursday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of University by a score of 1-0.

With that draw, New Smyrna Beach's record moves to 7-3-1. As for DeLand, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

New Smyrna Beach took their win against DeLand in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 8-0. Will New Smyrna Beach repeat their success, or does DeLand have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
