Preview: Quanah Indians vs. Wheeler Mustangs
The Quanah Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Wheeler Mustangs at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
Quanah unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 47-37 to Wellington. Quanah has struggled against Wellington recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, even though Memphis scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, Wheeler still came out on top. Wheeler strolled past Memphis with points to spare, taking the game 69-55. Given Wheeler's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 572nd, while Memphis is ranked 1308th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Quanah's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-9. As for Wheeler, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which somehow isn't as good as their 16-5 record this season.
Quanah didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Wheeler in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 51-46 win. Will Quanah repeat their success, or does Wheeler have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
