Football Game Preview: Boys Latin Lakers vs. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars

The Boys Latin Lakers will head out to face off against the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Boys Latin will be strutting in after a win while Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be coming in after a loss.

Boys Latin is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 31-21 victory over Severn School on Saturday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Lakers with their most commanding win of the season.

A big part of Boys Latin's win came down to the chemistry between Joey Keller and his top target Colt Erdos. Keller threw for 183 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 88.2% of his passes while Erdos picked up 127 receiving yards and two scores. Erdos was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 56 yards. Alonzo Wallace handled things on the ground, rushing for 106 yards.

Boys Latin didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Severn School to a completion percentage of just 40%. The team can thank Jayden Walker for the heroic effort on defense: he. Boys Latin has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.65 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.65 in their last three games.

Meanwhile, Our Lady of Mount Carmel played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 28-7 to John Carroll. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost four in a row.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Boys Latin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

Boys Latin might still be hurting after the 28-7 defeat they got from Our Lady of Mount Carmel when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Lakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
