Basketball Game Preview: Jensen Beach Falcons vs. Port St. Lucie Jaguars

The Jensen Beach Falcons will face off against the Port St. Lucie Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jensen Beach is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Jensen Beach took on Morningside Academy on Tuesday. Jensen Beach strolled past Morningside Academy with points to spare, taking the game 52-38. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Eagles are ranked 480th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Cordell Wilkins and Elijah Bell. Wilkins had a solid game and posted 11 points and six rebounds. Meanwhile, Bell did his best for the losing side, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Port St. Lucie played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Central 70-31. The Jaguars were down 64-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Jensen Beach will have to contain Alijah Baez as he made an impact in Port St. Lucie's last game. He earned eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ilisha Johnson, who put up four points.

Port St. Lucie has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Jensen Beach, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Jensen Beach has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Port St. Lucie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Jensen Beach beat Port St. Lucie 62-50 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Port St. Lucie's Daniel Alexis, who went 13 of 18 on his way to 29 points and seven rebounds.
