Basketball Recap: Crosstown Takes a Loss

Crosstown lost against Memphis Business Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Crosstown Explorers took a blow against the Memphis Business Academy Execs, falling 93-40. While losing is never fun, the Explorers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while the Execs are ranked 112th).

Memphis Business Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Larry Benson led the charge by shooting 6-for-8 from deep and dropping a double-double on 26 points and 12 assists. Benson's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Caswell, who went 10 of 14 en route to 25 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Crosstown's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-4. As for Memphis Business Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crosstown will take on Memphis Rise Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Crosstown is facing Memphis Rise Academy at the right time seeing as Memphis Rise Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Memphis Business Academy, they will face off against Trezevant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Memphis Business Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
