Patrick Henry and Mira Mesa are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but not for long. The Patrick Henry Patriots will be playing at home against the Mira Mesa Marauders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Patrick Henry turned things around against Rancho Bernardo on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Broncos. The Patriots not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 27th.

The match was exciting from start to finish, as two sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. The match finished with set scores of 30-28, 25-21, 26-24.

Mt. Carmel came into Wednesday's contest looking for another win against Mira Mesa, but Ejaykeoni Lumanlan wouldn't allow it. Mira Mesa came out on top against Mt. Carmel by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday which was due in part to Lumanlan, who had 11 digs and five assists. Those five assists gave him a new career-high.

Mira Mesa had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-20.

Mira Mesa's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Patrick Henry, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Patrick Henry skirted past Mira Mesa 2-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Patrick Henry repeat their success, or does Mira Mesa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
