Basketball Recap: Brian Kapfer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fordham Prep over St. Joseph-By-The-Sea

Fordham Prep was the 67-39 winner over St. Joseph-by-the-Sea when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Fordham Prep Rams took a 59-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings on Sunday. The Rams' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Fordham Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brian Kapfer, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 18 points. The matchup was Kapfer's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan McElhatton, who posted four points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

Fordham Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for St. Joseph-by-the-Sea, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Fordham Prep will host LaSalle Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Joseph-by-the-Sea, they will venture away from home to face off against St. Peter's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
