Basketball Recap: Trinity Christian Comes Up Short

Trinity Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fredericksburg Christian Eagles. The Gryphons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 42-34.

Layna Thomas continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fredericksburg Christian, going 5 of 7 en route to 18 points and six steals. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amri Donado, who posted ten points and four steals.

Trinity Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Fredericksburg Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Trinity Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Evergreen Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fredericksburg Christian has already played their next game (against Oakcrest), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
