Baseball Recap: Calallen Finds Playoff Glory Versus Valley View

It's playoff time, and Calallen had no trouble coming through when it counted. They didn't even let the Valley View Tigers on the board on Thursday, marking the Wildcats' second-straight 12-0 shutout. Considering the Wildcats have won 18 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Nobody will forget Collier Carroll's heroic performance anytime soon (especially Valley View's batters): he turned in a perfect game.

On the hitting side, Chase Lynch was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Reese Rusher was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Calallen and bumps their season record up to 28-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Valley View, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9.

Calallen will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
