Baseball Game Preview: Deerfield Beach Bucks vs. Highlands Christian Knights

The Deerfield Beach Bucks will venture away from home to challenge the Highlands Christian Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Deerfield Beach is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Deerfield Beach's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Coral Springs Charter hitters got past them. Deerfield Beach came up short against Coral Springs Charter on Tuesday, falling 15-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bucks have suffered since April 30, 2024.

Easton Viveros made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Highlands Christian made easy work of Sheridan Hills Christian last Tuesday and carried off a 17-2 win. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Sharks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Steven Perals and Josiah Tullier did most of the damage at the plate: Perals scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Tullier went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Highlands Christian is undefeated when Perals posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Phillip Cavalcante, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Highlands Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Deerfield Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Deerfield Beach couldn't quite get it done against Highlands Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can Deerfield Beach avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
