Soccer Game Preview: Ysleta vs. Clint

The Ysleta Indians will venture away from home to challenge the Clint Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ysleta is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Ysleta took a three-goal loss the last time they faced off against Austin, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Indians narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Panthers 3-2. That's two games straight that Ysleta have won by just one goal.

Kevin Portillo and Diego Suarez scored all three of Ysleta's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Meanwhile, Clint gave up the first goal on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Fabens with a sharp 5-2 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Clint's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Ysleta's record now sits at 5-3. As for Clint, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Everything went Ysleta's way against Clint when the teams last played back in February of 2025, as Ysleta made off with a 6-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
