Baseball Recap: Antioch Sets Scoring Season-High Against West

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Antioch ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the West Wolfpack 12-11. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jaxon Connelly looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Antioch is 2-1 when Connelly allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nathan Fritzler, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Stanton Westhorpe was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Antioch hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West struck out seven times.

Antioch moved to 5-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15-1 record this season.

Antioch will be playing at home against Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Panthers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for West, they will host Kimball at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
