Football Preview: Peachtree Ridge Lions vs. Brookwood Broncos

After each having a week off, the Peachtree Ridge Lions and the Brookwood Broncos will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Peachtree Ridge is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering North Gwinnett just ended the team's five-game winning streak last Friday. They took a blow against the Bulldogs, falling 45-14. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Brookwood entered their tilt with Meadowcreek last Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Mustangs, posting a 57-7 win. That 50 point margin sets a new team best for the Broncos this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Bryce Green and Brayden Tyson. Green rushed for 91 yards and three scores while Tyson rushed for 64 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries. Green got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 70 yards.

Brookwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 208 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Brookwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Firas Ibrahim and Kris Brunson. Ibrahim also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Another thorn in Meadowcreek's side was Unitas Baltimore, who picked up three sacks and made seven total tackles.

Peachtree Ridge's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Brookwood, their record is now an identical 5-2.

Peachtree Ridge couldn't quite finish off Brookwood in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 and fell 32-29. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Tyson, who rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 76 receiving yards and one TD. Now that the Lions know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
