Baseball Recap: Oasis Victorious

Oasis hadn't done well against Bonita Springs recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Sharks' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bullsharks a 12-0 shutout. The game was the first time the Sharks have beaten the Bullsharks on their field since February 20, 2020.

Charles Sipe made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sipe was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Oasis let Kenay Velazquez and Brayden Cody run wild. Velazquez went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI, while Cody went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three runs gave Velazquez a new career-high. Antony Avila was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Oasis now has a winning record of 1-0-1. As for Bonita Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Oasis will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Ida Baker at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bonita Springs, they will venture away from home to face off against Canterbury at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
