 If DuQuoin was riding high  off their  16-4 takedown of Benton last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The DuQuoin Indians fell victim to a  rough 9-3 loss at the hands of the Pinckneyville Panthers  on Tuesday. DuQuoin was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pinckneyville apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in April of 2023.
 DuQuoin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Essence Haynes, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with a  triple. Haynes has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in six consecutive pitching appearances.  Ashlyn Waters was another key contributor,  going 2-for-3 with a  stolen base and  an  RBI.
 DuQuoin's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Pinckneyville, the  win was  the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
 DuQuoin will head out on the road to  face off against  Johnston City at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Johnston City will roll in looking for their  11th straight  victory, something DuQuoin surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pinckneyville, they will look to defend their home field  on Wednesday against Red Bud at 4:30  p.m. Both teams will come into the  match having just posted big wins, so someone is set to suffer a big change in fortunes.
