Baseball Recap: Newberry Has No Trouble Against Oak Hall

Newberry barely beat Oak Hall the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Newberry was the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over Oak Hall on Monday. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Justin Moore looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Newberry let Tavis Honeycutt and Brycen Ochs run wild. Honeycutt scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3, while Ochs scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Newberry is undefeated when Ochs posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Brantley McCoy also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Newberry's record now sits at 9-6. As for Oak Hall, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newberry will host Oakleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oak Hall, they will be playing at home against Saint Francis Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
