Soccer Game Preview: Rockmart vs. Cedartown

Rockmart is 0-6 against Cedartown since February of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will venture away from home to challenge the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Rockmart is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They never let Haralson County get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Tuesday. Rockmart haven't had any issues with Haralson County recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, in Wednesday's Canine Competition, Cedartown prevailed. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Rome on Wednesday. The win was all the more spectacular given Cedartown's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 319th, while Rome are ranked 99th).

Branson Adams and Antoni Velasquez scored both of Cedartown's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

The victory was their first at home, bumping their record up to 2-13. As for Cedartown, their record now sits at 5-11.

Rockmart suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Cedartown in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
