Softball Game Preview: Volcano Vista Hawks vs. Rio Rancho Rams

Volcano Vista is 2-8 against Rio Rancho since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hawks will welcome the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Volcano Vista has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Volcano Vista is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They lost 15-0 to Piedra Vista. The shutout was out of character for the Hawks seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

Meanwhile, Rio Rancho faced Farmington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Rams put the hurt on the Scorpions with a sharp 14-1 win. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Rio Rancho has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Volcano Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.
