Baseball Recap: Mansfield Summit Triumphs

On Friday Mansfield Summit's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Palo Duro Dons, sneaking past 4-2. While the Jaguars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-25), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Mansfield Summit's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Marcus Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with one run. That's the most hits Johnson has posted since back in March of 2025. Matthew Trahan also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Mansfield Summit was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Mansfield Summit's record is now 4-0. As for Palo Duro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Mansfield Summit will be taking part in a tournament against Paradise at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Palo Duro, they are taking a road trip to square off against Castleberry at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
