West Linn hadn't done well against Oregon City recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Pioneers 2-1. The two-run effort marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meadow Sanborn tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emily Sakys, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

West Linn is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Oregon City, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-12.
