Baseball Recap: Slater Find Success

Slater won against Community on Monday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Wildcats skirted past the Glasgow Yellowjackets 7-6. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Yellowjackets, too.

Tristen Klasing was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Isaac Larson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Slater's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Maddox Tyler was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Slater and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Glasgow, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Slater will take on Smithton on Saturday. As for Glasgow, they will venture away from home to challenge Fayette at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games the Falcons have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
