Preview: Grafton Spoilers vs. Carrington Cardinals
The Grafton Spoilers will head out on the road to face off against the Carrington Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Grafton's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Grafton gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 88-34 victory over Thief River Falls. Given Grafton's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in North Dakota, while Thief River Falls is ranked 270th in Minnesota), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carrington won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They were beaten by Four Winds/Minnewaukan 87-41.
Grafton pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.5 points per game. As for Carrington, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Grafton came up short against Carrington when the teams last played back in February of 2022, falling 63-55. Can Grafton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
