Basketball Recap: Riverview Comes Up Short

Riverview won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were dealt a 49-21 loss at the hands of the Bentworth Bearcats. The matchup marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Bentworth was led to victory by Christopher Harper and Ben Hays. Harper posted 20 points and three steals, while Hays scored 12 points and eight boards. The game was Harper's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Lucas Burt was another key player, putting up four points in addition to 13 rebounds and five steals.

Riverview's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Bentworth, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-8.

Riverview and Bentworth could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Riverview (ranked 417th) will meet Neighborhood Academy (ranked 48th) at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Similarly, Bentworth will challenge Jeannette at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 357 places (508 vs. 151).
