Softball Recap: Saugerties Comes Up Short

Saugerties suffered their biggest defeat since May 20, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against the Marlboro Central Dukes, falling 12-1. The Sawyers have struggled against the Dukes recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Alaina Conrad spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and ten unearned) runs on 13 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Saugerties saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alanna Mower, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Saugerties' loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Marlboro Central, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 15-0.

Looking ahead, Saugerties will take on Valley Central at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Sawyers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Marlboro Central, they will face off against Pine Bush at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
