Basketball Recap: Phillips Comes Up Short

Phillips lost against Clark back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wildcats took a 67-49 bruising from the Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Eagles are ranked 57th).

Phillips' defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Clark, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.

Coming up, Phillips will take on Thornwood in a tournament on Friday. The Wildcats' defense better be ready for this one: the Thunderbirds have averaged an impressive 64.3 points per game this season. Clark and St. Francis de Sales will round out the year against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Pioneers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 65.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
