Football Recap: Covenant Christian Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Covenant Christian took on St. Paul on Friday. The Cougars were beaten by the Cardinals 56-28. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 42-7 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Covenant Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brady McDaniel, who picked up 85 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 48 yards. He also hauled in two receiving touchdowns, which is notable because Covenant Christian is 2-1 when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Coltyn Watson, who threw for 122 yards and three TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes.

Covenant Christian suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 3-3. As for St. Paul, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Covenant Christian has already played their next game, a 42-14 defeat against Rosehill Christian on the 17th. As for St. Paul, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 27-20 loss against Sacred Heart on the 17th.
