Soccer Game Preview: Wimberley vs. Davenport

The Wimberley Texans will face off against the Davenport Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wimberley is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Wimberley fell victim to Marble Falls and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, the Texans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 620th, while the Mustangs are ranked 303rd).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Davenport, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in January. They came out on top against Bandera by a score of 3-1 on Friday. Wolves haven't had any issues with the BULLDOGS recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Vicente Hernandez and Zayne Zeeff scored all three of Davenport's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Davenport's win bumped their record up to 2-6-1. As for Wimberley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8-1.

Wimberley skirted past Davenport 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Wimberley repeat their success, or does Davenport have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
