The Cheshire Academy Cats will challenge the Hamden Green Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cheshire Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Cheshire Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over Greens Farms Academy.

E Dibennedetto made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Dibennedetto was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cheshire Academy let A Sutera and O Watson run wild. Sutera went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run, while Watson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of K Durkin, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Hamden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against Shelton, falling 17-0. That's two games in a row now that the Green Dragons have lost by exactly 17 runs.

Cheshire Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hamden, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
