Volleyball Recap: Mayfield Makes It Four in a Row at Home

It was a proper cat-fight when Mayfield faced off against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin on Thursday. The Wildcats blew past the Lions 3-0. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-12, 25-17.

Mayfield can attribute much of their success to Tyler Majernik, who had six aces. Those six aces gave Majernik a new career-high. Bobby Mickshaw also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Mayfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 26 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Mayfield's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin has already played their next contest (against North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mayfield will be paying especially close attention to the Lions' matchup: after the Lions face off against the Rangers, they'll take on Mayfield again at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
