Recap: Merit Preparatory Academy Knights vs. Union Cougars
The Merit Preparatory Academy Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Union at home and fell 75-30. Merit Preparatory Academy lost against Union in their previous head to head back in November of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 101-52 score last time.
Despite the loss, Merit Preparatory Academy saw an underclassman step up: Miles Petersen scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Martinez, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Merit Preparatory Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Union, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8.
Merit Preparatory Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on American Prep WV at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Union will be home for the holidays to greet Duchesne at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
