Recap: Holy Cross Knights vs. Geneva
The Holy Cross Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 59-21 loss at the hands of Geneva. Holy Cross has struggled against Geneva recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Leading Geneva to victory were Kyra Petty and Maegan Riebel. Petty scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Riebel shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Riebel's 21st in a row with at least ten points. Morgan Howard was another key contributor, scoring three points along with four steals.
Holy Cross' defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Geneva, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
Holy Cross will head out on the road to face off against Veritas Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Veritas Academy is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Geneva will take on John Paul II at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. John Paul II will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1083rd, while Geneva is ranked 263rd).
