Baseball Recap: Albion Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Albion). Everything went their way against the Newfane Panthers on Saturday as they made off with a 13-1 victory. The game was the first time the Purple Eagles have beaten the Panthers on their field since May 9, 2022.

Nathan Gibson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kaiden Froman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Elliott Trapiss was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Albion kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Albion's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for Newfane, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Albion will challenge rival Barker at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Newfane is set to face off against their familiar foe Wilson at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
