Softball Game Preview: Tri-West Hendricks Bruins vs. North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers

Tri-West Hendricks is a perfect 10-0 against North Montgomery since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bruins will venture away from home to face off against the Chargin' Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Tri-West Hendricks is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Tri-West Hendricks not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7th (when they won 23-0). They blew past Beech Grove 12-6. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Natalie Tharp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kacee Trivett and Peyton Norman did most of the damage at the plate: Trivett got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Norman went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Trivett a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Charles, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for North Montgomery's offense. They came up short against North Putnam on Saturday, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Chargin' Chargers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Tri-West Hendricks' win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for North Montgomery, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-14 record.

Everything went Tri-West Hendricks' way against North Montgomery in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Tri-West Hendricks made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
