Baseball Game Preview: Lockport Porters vs. Barrington Fillies/Broncos

The Lockport Porters will head out on the road to face off against the Barrington Fillies/Broncos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Lockport is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Lincoln-Way West, who was ranked eighth at the time (Lockport was ranked 18th). The Porters took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Friday. The Porters' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Prospect typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Barrington proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 10-6 win over the Knights. The victory continues a trend for the Fillies/Broncos in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won five in a row.

Caid Heick and Jackson Roberts did most of the damage at the plate: Heick went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, while Roberts went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Heick a new career-high. Juilan Ashley-Friedman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Lockport's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Barrington, their win bumped their record up to 17-7-1.

Everything went Lockport's way against Barrington in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Lockport made off with a 10-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Porters since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
