Softball Recap: Winthrop Ramblers vs. Spruce Mountain Phoenix

Winthrop extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-7. They came up short against the Spruce Mountain Phoenix, falling 14-1. The Ramblers were not able to make up for their loss to the Phoenix from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Santika Hodgkin was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Ashley Nelson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Looking ahead, Winthrop will venture away from home to challenge Mount Abram at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Spruce Mountain, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hall-Dale at 4:00 p.m. on June 2.
