League recap: East Lincoln tops West Lincoln to extend winning streak

East Lincoln extended the longest winning streak in 2A/1A Southern Piedmont this week by beating West Lincoln, 40-20. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Mustangs.

Lincolnton took down Cherryville 34-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Michael Dorsainvil put up the best numbers through the air as Lake Norman Charter topped North Lincoln. He finished with four completions for 57 yards and one touchdown. Dorsainvil's favorite target this week was Alex Scearce, who caught two passes for 31 yards.

Damian Scott was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 201 yards on 23 carries as Bessemer City bested Highland Tech. Cedric Mackey also contributed to the rushing game with 110 yards on the ground.

Garrett was the best wideout in the league this week as the Yellowjackets defeated Highland Tech. Garrett racked up two receptions for 34 yards. Jha'Qui Adams helped Bessemer City's passing attack out by catching one ball for 15 yards.

Dorsainvil has thrown for 868 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Scearce has 17 catches for 464 yards. Tripp Smith leads the league in rushing with 729 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Lake Norman Charter takes on second place East Lincoln. Last week, Lake Norman Charter topped the Knights, while East Lincoln beat the Rebels.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Bob McKay's team takes on Mike Byus' team. Lake Norman Charter has allowed 71 points this season, while the Mustangs have given up 170. Lake Norman Charter allowed 12 points last week as it beat North Lincoln.

There should be lots of points scored when Lake Norman Charter and East Lincoln face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Lake Norman Charter comes in having scored 368 this season, while the Mustangs have scored 325. Lake Norman Charter scored 32 points last week as it topped Timothy Scott Stillwell's team.

East Lincoln led the league in scoring this week after putting up 40 points on West Lincoln.
