Basketball Recap: Winston Salem Christian National Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

On Wednesday, Winston Salem Christian National faced Bishop McGuinness in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Winston Salem Christian National Lions simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bishop McGuinness Villains 71-38. Winston Salem Christian National's win was all the more impressive since the Villains were averaging only 29.79 points allowed on the season.

Winston Salem Christian National's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jocelyne Grier, who went 8 for 14 en route to 22 points and three steals. Grier's evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Torrence, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Winston Salem Christian National was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop McGuinness only racked up seven assists.

When it comes to explaining why Bishop McGuinness lost, don't look at Adelaide Jernigan. Despite the final result, she posted 22 points and eight boards. Jernigan is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Laney Heafner, who scored five points.

Winston Salem Christian National's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Bishop McGuinness, with the defeat, they broke their 18-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-1.

Winston Salem Christian National will take on Central Pointe Christian Academy National at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Winston Salem Christian National is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season. As for Bishop McGuinness, they will head out on the road to take on West Forsyth at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
