Softball Game Preview: Darrington Loggers vs. Orcas Island Vikings

The Darrington Loggers will face off against the Orcas Island Vikings at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Darrington is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Granite Falls just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 10-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Loggers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Orcas Island couldn't beat La Conner on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Vikings fell just short of the Braves by a score of 10-9. Vikings fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Braves since on Thursday.

Darrington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Orcas Island, they dropped their record down to 7-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Darrington came out on top in a nail-biter against Orcas Island in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Loggers repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
