Preview: Florence Buffaloes vs. Elkhart Elks
Florence is 0-1 against Elkhart since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Florence Buffaloes will be staying on the road to face off against the Elkhart Elks at 7:30 p.m. on October 20th. Florence comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 51-7, which was the final score in Florence's tilt against Rogers on Friday. While losing is never fun, Florence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1164th, while Rogers is ranked 531st).
Meanwhile, Elkhart had to suffer through a rough 42-10 loss at the hands of Lexington. Elkhart was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Despite the loss, Elkhart saw an underclassman step up: Jackson Denney rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
The losses dropped Florence to 0-7 and Elkhart to 3-4.
Florence took a serious blow against Elkhart in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 64-22. Thankfully for Florence, Taylor Stafford (who rushed for 279 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.0 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
