Soccer Game Preview: Waverly Central vs. Creek Wood

Waverly Central hasn't had much luck against Creek Wood recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Red Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Waverly Central took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They beat Whites Creek by a goal, winning 4-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Waverly Central's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Creek Wood and Sycamore, and Creek Wood kept the tradition alive. The Red Hawks won by a goal and slipped past the War Eagles 2-1. Two seems to be a good number for Creek Wood as the team scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Matthew Seyler was the driving force of Creek Wood's attack as he scored both of Creek Wood's goals, bringing his season total up to 18 goals.

Creek Wood's victory bumped their record up to 9-2-1. As for Waverly Central, they moved to 2-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
