Baseball Recap: Mazama Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Mazama and Phoenix, and Phoenix kept the tradition alive. The Vikings took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates on Friday. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Mazama saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Justice, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Silas Kapitan also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Mazama dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Phoenix, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4.

Looking ahead, Mazama will welcome Bonanza at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Phoenix, they are taking a road trip to challenge Henley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
