Baseball Recap: San Ysidro Triumphs

After losing to El Capitan the last time they met, San Ysidro decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cougars came out on top against the Vaqueros by a score of 9-6 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

The team relied heavily on Axel Reyes, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. San Ysidro is undefeated when Reyes posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Alejandro Buenrostro was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

San Ysidro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February.

San Ysidro's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for El Capitan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

San Ysidro wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Grossmont on the 24th. As for El Capitan, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-3 victory against Mira Mesa on the 24th.
